Day 1: Arrival in Lima
Welcome to Lima, Peru. On arrival you exit the main airport doors to the right hand side where you will see your hotel in front of you. No transfers necessary.
Day 2: Lima – Cusco
Please make your way to the check in desk 1hr30mins prior to departure time for your flight to Cusco. On arrival you will be met by our Team and transferred to your hotel.
This afternoon we collect you from your hotel and taken on a Private City Tour of Cusco. You will visit the most important sites: The Cathedral, Koricancha “Temple of the Sun”, Tambomachay “Temple of the Water”, Qenqo and Sacsayhuaman. The tour lasts around 4 hours and ends in the Plaza de Armas.
Day 3: Sacred Valley tour
This morning we will collect you from your hotel and take you on the Private Tour of the Sacred Valley. We will visit Awanacancha Cultural Village, where you can see and interact with many species of camelids (alpacas, llamas, vicuñas). Here you will also see ladies making fine alpaca weavings. From here we travel to the town of Pisac where we visit the market for a little while and then travel by car up to the ruins above the town. We will walk in the area of the ruins for around 1 hour. From here we make our way back to Urubamba where we take lunch in a touristic restaurant (not included in the cost). Our final place to visit is the pretty Andean town of Ollantaytambo. We will hear all about the amazing history of this village and explore some of its pretty lanes.
We end the tour in Ollantaytambo and take the train to Aguas Calientes. Train Time: to be confirmed. On arrival you will be met and taken to your hotel which is a short walk away. Your guide will come over and brief you on the program for tomorrow
Day 4: Sunrise In Machu Picchu
This morning you rise early to take the bus together with your guide up to the ruins of this beautiful New World Wonder, Machupicchu!! You will walk with your guide around the citadel exploring the most important sites and temples learning about the civilisation that once inhabited this mountain top citadel. The tour lasts around 2 hours and afterwards you have free time to explore on your own.
When you are ready you make your way back to the town for lunch (not included in the price). You can explore the town a little, maybe get some souvenirs in the market, and then we take the train back to Ollantaytambo where you will overnight. Train Time: to be confirmed
Day 5: Maras Moray, Salt Mines & Chincheros
Your guide will meet you at the hotel this morning and we continue further exploring the Sacred Valley. We start making our way back to Cusco and will stop enroute at the little town of Maras which is the gateway to the Inca circular terraces of Moray commonly referred to as the “Inca Greenhouse” due to the fact that it is believed these terraces were used to experiment with growing crops at various levels of altitude. From here we visit the ancient saltworks of Salineras where salt is still being farmed using the age-old techniques. From here we make our way to the market town of Chincheros where we will visit the market and the pretty colonnial church in this town. We then continue back to Cusco and leave you in your hotel in the early afternoon.
Day 6: Day at Leisure
Free day to explore wonderful Cusco! Perhaps take a walk to the well-known San Pedro food market and try one of the local smoothies or go to the Inca Museum or explore the old area of San Blas (the artistic area).
Day 7: Cusco – Lima – Home
We transfer you to the airport for your flight to Lima. On arrival you will be met and taken on a Private City tour. You will have the opportunity to visit one of the most important architectural constructions of the 17th century, Convent of Saint Francis. This complex has a small square, the convent and church. Its cloisters have beautiful tiles and one can visit the catacombs which are more than 300 years old. We then visit the three most important sites from colonial times: Plaza Mayor, plaza San Martin, Palacio de Gobierno (known as the house of Pizarro), and the Municipality, preserving their original architecture.
This 3-hour sightseeing tour offers the best of colonial and modern Lima. The tour ends with a visit to the modern suburbs of San Isidro and Miraflores. If time permits we end off by dropping you off at the LarcoMar centre where you can do some last minute shopping and enjoy a meal before we recollect you and take you to the airport.
